Lorenzo Martin

Lorenzo is a top hair stylist to the stars. He works at Jose Ebar salon in Beverly Hills. Also, he does  fashion shoots and hair styling on TV shows in he’s spare time.

His agency Cloutier also needed a recent shot of Lorenzo for there website.

Drew Child Development Corporation

This was taken as an advertising campaign for Drew Child Development Corporation. Drew Child Development is devoted to the well being of children and their families living in South Central Los Angeles. They provide child care, education, social and mental heath services in the diverse community of Los angeles.

This image was designed to show the diversity of the community they serve. Also the parents resounding the children in a simi circle was to symbolize protection and guidance. I photographed the group from above on a 12 foot white seamless background.

Motion Blur

I photographed Benjamin Farahi in my studio on Saturday.

He was lit with a soft box. The background was a shire curtain with natural light streaming in. The shutter speed was low to achieve the ghostly blur effect. I like this effect because it gives the impression of movement.

The family liked it as well.

Combine two shots

This photograph of Gina Carlson and Kristie Villa was taken for their company Legalink Inc. It will be used to promote them on their website as well as in print advertising.

This shot combined two shots into one in order to get the best results. They where photographed together, but Gina like her image better in a different shot than Kristie. So this combination shot was created in photoshop. And everyone was happy in the end.

Venice Canal

Frank Nemiroff a good friend of mine lives in the Venice canal area. Every Monday we ride our bikes alone the bike trail at night its been a tradition for many years. Venice is a great area to photograph with all of its interesting buildings, people and the ocean scenes.

This shot was taken on one of my strolls around the canals with my camera. I shot this image in raw format and imported it into photoshop. In photoshop I enhanced the colors of the houses and the water independently from one another. I like the images for its surreal look.

We went to the offices of Mitchell, Silberberg and Knupp to photography 48 of their attorneys last week . This type of shoot has some challenges. First in the scheduling of the attorneys with their busy schedule I need to be flexible and move other subjects in their place when needed. Second, we had only 10 minutes with each individual with means shoot fast get the shot with no room for error. Third, the attorneys then move to my assistant and choose their shot, which needs to also be done quickly in order to keep the schedule moving and stay on time. I am very happy to say all went well at MS&K.

Venable LLP We celebrate their first year as our client

We Celebrate Venable Law Firm based in Washington DC as their one year anniversary of being our client approaches. Venable specializes in bankruptcy, investment management and intellectual property law.

  They where referred to Westside Studio by one of our corporate law clients. They contacted us and required a Proposal Statement to satisfy their corporate photography needs. We responded with a 20 page proposal including our qualifications,examples of our corporate photography, Client list, references, description of our studio, statement of confidential assurance and a proposal of costs. This request was unusual for this type of job, but we were happy to comply. Thankfully the relationship has worked out very well for both of us.

   Our first job for them was for two days photographing 25 attorneys per day. We have been back twice since. When they have a new hire to be photographed they send them to our studio in Beverly Hills. We photograph the attorney with a plain background and then replace the background with the view out their office window. Which will match the images I have already taken at their offices. The photograph of Dan Chammas pictured above was done in this manner. Thank you for the work Venable Law Firm.

Brentwood & Associates Business Portraits

Long time client Brentwood and Associates came in this week to update photographs for their website. Pictured on left Anthony Choe partner, center picture Kevin Johnson associate and right picture Sagar Shah associate. Brentwood and Associates are a private and equity investment firm.

As an investment firm, a traditional studio business portrait supports the message they what to portray.

Annika Bertea 13 year old actress headshots

Annika is 13 years old and already a working actor. She was lead in The Sound of Music as well as Ann Frank. Watch out Hollywood here she comes.

  This is a Headshot example of a teen age actress. We took photographs in the studio as well as in natural light. This shot was taken in natural light out side. She got so many great images within the two hours we shot, choosing one image was difficult.

Cherie Meagher “The Coach” Publicity Photograph

     Cherie brings her life experiences together to help others achieve their goals. She has had a 125 pound weight loss for twenty consecutive years.

     She was great to photograph, fun and energetic and very comfortable to be with. We did full length images as well as headshots all on a white background. the photographs will be easy for her web master to pull her off and place on her website.

 

Danny Alex

     Danny believes "Everyone should make an appointment with themselves for one hour a day ... its the most important appointment you have because its with yourself" - Danny Alex

     Danny bought these wolverine gloves in and we took a couple of shots. We shot on a dark background in color and I put the image in to photoshop an made it b&w.

Jennifer Beers Acting Headshot

     Jennifer is originally from Iowa and out here for about 3 years. look for her work on TV and film.

     She has beautiful blue eyes and I choose to shoot her out side in natural light so as to enhance them. We walked the streets talking as we shot.

 

Rayanna’s Birthday Portraits

     Rayanna and five of her friends stopped by to take some pictures. They all became close friends after meeting in the Beverly Hills High School Minnesingers class last year. 

    We shot a bunch of photographs of the girls, some posed and some not. Also we did some images of Rayanna for her acting Headshots.

     The group shots were all shot in studio but the Headshots were done outside in natural light.

     They all had a great time. What a terrific 16th birthday present. One that will last forever !

Nurit Krauss photographic exercise book

     Nurit is a 74 year old preacher of fitness now working on her third up date to her book “The Timeless Body”.

    Originally from Israel  immigrated to the US and graduated from the Juliard School of Dance. She has developed a unique style of exercise all done from the ground so as to reduce friction on the body’s joints. This type of exercise is specially designed for all ages. As you see it has done her body well.

    The challenge of a shoot such as this is capture the satellites of the movements in order to make it clear to the new exerciser using the book. We shot in my studio on a white seamless background with soft lighting.

Taylor & Leighandra friends portrait

     Leighandra was back for her third shoot at Westside Studio. Her first time was back in 2003 with her sister Brittany and then again in 2007 when Brittany was Miss Massachusetts.

    This time out in LA on vacation with friend from 6th grade Taylor. They both shot individual shots in studio and environmental shoot around the neighborhood here in Beverly Hills. It is wonderful and a little scary to experience my subjects grow up before my camera.

Photographic Promotional Shoot at Val Garay house

     Val lives in Topanga canyon in an old restored hikers cabin. The house is totally tricked out  with antiques from around the world. The dinning room is where his recording studio is set up with the best high end mixing equipment I have ever seen. On the walls he displays some of his 13 number 1 records and 80 gold records, not to mention a grammy.He has worked with James taylor, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Marvin Gaye, Bonnie Raitt, Santana, Ringo Starr and the list goes on.

     We shot from the living room in to the dinning room. Val sat in his chair at his mixing board. I lit the room with two mono lights bouncing of the ceiling and two behind the mixing board. Val was very comfortable being photographed as he mentioned he has been photographed 1,250,000 times.

     The shoot was for West LA Music, the marketing person Christina Crockett and Val Garay were very happy with the shoot.

David Nehdar acting headshots

     This cool guy is known as Hollywood Dave. He has a star quality personality with talent to match. 

Dave has been a Westside client since 1995.We love it when Dave comes in because he knows how to have a good time.
